Happy Tuesday!
This week, we're talking Reddit with the SEO Jesus. Meeting Stewart Vickers in Shenzhen and Chiang Mai this past fall, it was clear he is an incredibly genuine, and knowledgeable, character in our industry.
Fair warning: this week's newsletter and podcast focus on "black hat SEO" insights!
Reddit is Powerful, but Volatile
Make no mistake, black hat Reddit drives results for SEO and AEO: Ranking #1 on Google with Reddit listicles. Influencing AI Overviews through Reddit content. Converting Reddit visibility into direct ROI for clients.
But, Stewart's Reddit style is high-risk, high-reward. Threads can get banned and comments deleted.
Jolly SEO's Reddit Brand Mentions clients are building long-term brands, so their Reddit style is different: informational, not promotional.
New Life for Zero-Click Search Victims?
Stewart shared how, with his style of Reddit posting, one single comment, with one single affiliate link, is producing $4,000 per month in earnings!
How long will all this last?
Whether you employ "black hat" or "white hat" Reddit techniques, there is no dancing around a few realities:
1/ We have no idea how long Reddit will continue to license content to OpenAI and Google. 2/ There has already been a "Reddit winter" in 2024. 3/ But, for now, one thing is clear: Reddit is impacting Google and AI Search alike.
Personally, I think Reddit is going to continue playing a significant ranking role in both Google and AI Search throughout 2026.
Until next week, Greg
